Background Information: Applicant must state his/her Hispanic Heritage. Essay: Applicant must submit a 500 to 700-word essay (no more than 1 or 1 ½ pages, font 12, and single spaced.) In the essay you must tell us about:
Yourself, your educational goals
Why you consider you deserve the HWOA scholarship
Your Hispanic/Latino Family History (parents and siblings) and where your family comes from.
Your experiences that have influenced you to study: life, work, people
Your Leadership roles held and future plans where you hope to use such leadership
Your Community Service and/or Your Family Responsibilities
Academic Record: Applicant must request the school currently attending, to send HWOA an official transcript. High school student's transcript must include scores of tests: ACT, SAT, or compass. Financial Need: Applicant must provide proof of all family income, ( 2022 tax return or 60-day proof of income) Seriousness of Purpose: Applicant must submit one of the following: letter of acceptance, confirmation of appointment with school adviser at the school they will attend, or proof of enrollment. Resume: Applicant must submit a one-page resume of work experience, academic accomplishments, and other relevant activities. Picture: Submit a recent photograph, headshot, or passport type, suitable for use in any printed materials Letters of Reference: Submit two letters of reference; these may be from a teacher, counselor, employer, pastor or priest, coach, or family friend, (NO letters from classmates or family members)
