Considerations: Limited English applicants call (479) 751-9494 to request submission in Spanish Background Information: applicant must state his/her Hispanic heritage in the essay. Essay: Applicants must submit a 500 to 750-word essay, single space (no more than 1 1⁄2 pages). In the essay you must tell us about: Yourself, and your educational goals Why you consider you deserve the HWOA scholarship Your Hispanic/Latino Family History (parents and siblings) where your family comes from. Your experiences that have influenced you to study: life, work people Your Leadership roles held and future plans where you hope to use such leadership Your Community Volunteer Service and/or your family responsibilities. Academic Record: Official transcript from the school you are currently attending. High school students' transcript must include scores of tests: ACT, SAT or Compass. Financial Need: Applicants MUST provide proof of all family income. (2023 tax return or 60-day proof of income) Seriousness of Purpose: Applicants must submit one of the following: letter of acceptance, confirmation of appointment with school adviser at the school they will attend, or proof of enrollment. Resume: Applicants must submit a one-page resume of work experience, academic accomplishments and other relevant activities. Picture: Submit a recent photograph with plain background, neutral expression, and eyes open. You can take the picture with your phone but not selfie's. Letters of Reference: Submit two letters of reference; these may be from a teacher, counselor, employer, pastor or priest, coach or family friends.
